| PADDLE CANADA SKILLS CERTIFICATIONS | Get your Flatwater Kayak Certification By Combining A Weekend Kayak Course And Our In-pool Rescue Course | These great weekend skill development sessions will be spent in the fabulous Toronto Island Archipelago. We will spend lots of time on the water, striving to become intimate with the special "feel" of the sea kayak. Even if you have never been in a kayak before, this course will take you right from the beginning, and will most importantly give you time to ask questions and refine the paddling skills you have learned. Participants have the opportunity to achieve their Paddle Canada Flatwater Kayak Certification depending on goals and ability, and by combining this course with the In-Pool Rescue Course. Classes run from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Please note: Participants will have the opportunity to purchase their lunch locally on the Saturday however will need to bring one to pack on the Sunday (Islands Travel day). Paddle Canada Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor Certification Course – (2.5 Days) This SUP Instructor Certification Course is designed to provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Program. The Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor is certified to conduct PADDLE CANADA Introduction to Stand Up Paddleboard and Advanced Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard courses and to certify paddlers at those levels. Weekend Canoe Course
Perfect for a beginner or intermediate canoeist who wants to gain, renew or enhance their skills. Develop your paddling ability amongst the fabulous Toronto Island Archipelago. Topics include maneuvering (the "J" stroke for boat control), pivoting (draw's and pry's), proper dock entries and exits, boat balance (seating positions and trimming), safety and rescues, portaging, the roles of the bow (front) and stern (back) paddler, and canoe design. These skills will be covered for tandem (two participants in a canoe) and some solo paddling. ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association) Flatwater A, B, C Certification is available dependent on your goals and ability. Classes run Sat & Sun 10:00 am to 4:30pm.
