Thank you for your canoe & kayak paddling interest and for your past patronage! From reading about our free-guided group paddling and BBQ nights, to all the new programs we are offering this year, we hope you enjoy looking around our site. Call anytime and leave us your paddle questions or registration requests. We offer paddling programs year round, and our lake-side office doors are open on our newly constructed park grounds from May 17 – September 28 2008.

KAYAKING: July 5 / 6 Weekend Kayaking - 2 spots

NEW! Kayaking Value Package: (6 classes to take you from beginner to beyond)

We have put together six classes which will run once a week designed to provide you with skills in multiple facets of sea-kayaking.  Over the 6 courses you will have the opportunity for consistent exposure and progression as you also build your paddling community with fellow aspiring paddlers.  To take all six classes separately would cost over $700.00.

Class 1: Intro to Kayaking – Starting from the basics.

Class 2: Rescues 1 (in-pool): Assisted rescue, including wet ext, T-rescue, Bow/Eskimo rescue, Rescue Management, edging/bracing

Class 3: Intermediate Stroke Progressions – paddling on edge, combination turns, efficient forward stroke, overall beginning to link skills together, paddle to island

Class 4: Safety and seamanship (on-land) – intro to weather, navigation, harbour regulations, on-water traffic and group management

Class 5: Rescues 2  self rescues, rolling, scramble, bow rescue

Class 6: Day Trip – Day trip planning, float plan and check-list, Island lunch, on-water travel formations, safety scenarios

Date: July 1, 8, 15th, 19th, 22nd, 29th, August 9th

Fee: $495 + GST

 

NEW! Kayak Dynamic Paddling Skills

Each course will be different as we take the evening’s sea state and work on varying skills. This is for intermediate paddlers and from trying rescues in choppy water and wind, or finessing low-brace turns on calm evenings, you will really enhance your abilities!

Dates: July 8, Aug 18 (6-8:30pm)    Fee: $79 + GST/evening
